Staff
Halswell Residential College has a total staff of approximately 100 full time/part time positions. This staff is led by Acting Principal (Janine Harrington), assisted by the college's Senior Leadership Team.
All staff are bound by a Code of Conduct/Code of Ethics.
There are a number of staffing groups within the College:
Residential Education - Led by Associate Principal Residential Education (Janine Harrington)
The Residential Education Team comprises the Teaching and Residential Teams working with pupils at our Halswell Campus.
Teaching Team – Led by Acting Deputy Principal, Teaching and Learning (Lynda Siave);
The Teaching Team comprises of both Specialist and Classroom Teachers.
Tauawa Residential Team – Led by the Kaiwhakahaere (Timoti Christensen);
Residential Social Workers, Assistant Residential Social Workers and Residential Assistants support students through a kaupapa based programme in Te Whare O Tauawa.
Te Ara Residential Team – Led by the Residential Manager (Ken Joblin);
Residential Social Workers, Assistant Residential Social Workers and Residential Assistants support students through individualised programmes in Te Ara Villa.
The Night Staff Team - Led by the Duty Manager (Sam Stowers);
The Night Staff Team support students during the night in the Villas.
General Services – Led by the Manager, General Services (Lynne Harrop);
This group includes Laundry and Kitchen staff, Caretaker and Grounds staff and Cleaners.
Learning And Behaviour Support - Led by Associate Principal LABS (Jon Purdue)
Learning Support Team - Led by the Deputy Principal, Learning Support (Solomon John);
The Learning Support Team includes Itinerant Support Teachers, Matatipu Teacher, Matatipu Teacher Assistants and Check and Connect Youth Workers.
Family Support Team - Led by the Senior Social Worker, Family Support (Mohammad Zareei);
The Family Support Team works with families to enable them to better meet the needs of their sons.
Community Support Team - Led by Team Leader (Jane Ballinger);
This team includes Liaison Teachers based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and a Work Experience Coordinator based at our Matatipu unit.
All supported by our wonderful Administration Staff led by our Executive Officer (Bruce Murray).
