Outing - Estuary trip

The Estuary

On Friday, 10th May, Room 1 went to the estuary at South Brighton. We met Jason, Warren and Hal there. Warren showed us the fire truck use to put out rural and small bush fires.

Jason took us for a walk down to the estuary. We saw glasswort, salt ribbonwood, jointed wire rush, ice plant, lime grass and marram grass.

In the water we found crabs and tiny baby flounder who could camouflage in the sand. We saw black-backed gulls and oyster catchers. Warren showed us the huhu grub and beetle. Metamorphosis means to change forms. Then we had lunch.

After lunch we helped Jason plant heaps of pingao plants. We went down to the beach and left messages in the sand. It was a very good day.
