Holidays / Travel
All students at Halswell College travel home for the main term holidays. At the beginning of each year a letter is sent to all parents informing them of the terms, holidays and travel dates for the year.
Approximately a fortnight prior to the holidays, parents/caregivers are notified in writing by the College of the student's dates of travel, time of arrival/departure, whether air, bus, or train travel.
On travel days many boys are escorted by Halswell College staff, which are clearly identified. The escorts may wish to speak with parents regarding their boys, or may need to hand over medication and/or personal luggage belonging to the boys. Some students travel independently.
Any information regarding the holidays, eg new medication, behaviour problems, sickness, please inform the College Staff or leave a note in the student's suitcase.
We try to do our best to have the boys' travel days running as smoothly as possible, but breakdowns and weather conditions do at times disrupt travel. We will always endeavour to keep parents informed.
Parents must be on time at airports or bus/train depots. Failure to do so places additional cost on to the College for which parents will be held liable.
