Vocational Training

The College provides a range of work experience placements within this programme.
Internal Placements

These include the College's laundry, garden, kitchen, sewing room, workshop and horticulture unit. The students have an opportunity to work alongside an instructor to gain basic skills.

External Placements

When students have shown good skills development in the Internal Programme, they may be placed outside the College within various firms throughout the community. Placements are for up to two days per week and are supported by the Transition Support Assistant. We rely on local firms such as bakeries, nurseries, engineers, butchers and others to provide work opportunities for our students. Other service providers may be accessed by the College.

Vocational Courses

As part of a transition programme prior to withdrawal, a student may commence a vocational training course run by external service providers. This may occur in a student's home community after withdrawal from the College, but in most cases it is initiated from the College by our liaison teachers in consultation with the student's family / whanau.
